WEEK 1 of the NFL

The NFL Season Begins…

The 2025 NFL season kicks off with a dramatic Thursday opener on September 4, as reigning Super Bowl champions the Philadelphia Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys. Dak Prescott returns from injury, now with added firepower in George Pickens alongside CeeDee Lamb, while facing Jalen Hurts and a revamped Philadelphia defense that lost key pieces in the offseason—making for a high-stakes NFC East showdown.
Friday night takes us overseas to São Paulo, where the Chiefs face off against the Chargers. Despite Kansas City’s dominance in recent rivalry meetings, their divisional clashes with Patrick Mahomes vs. Justin Herbert have typically been nail-biters—setting the tone for an electrifying international opener.
Sunday brings a wealth of intriguing matchups: the high-octane Lions visit Green Bay, showcasing Detroit’s refreshed coordinators against a rejuvenated Packers offense with a now-healthy Jordan Love and rookie receivers. The Ravens square off with the Bills in a rematch of last year’s playoff classic, pitching Lamar Jackson against MVP Josh Allen once more.
Meanwhile, Pete Carroll and QB Geno Smith debut in Las Vegas against Mike Vrabel and rookie QB Drake Maye in New England—a clash of fresh leadership and contrasting directions. Losses and gains define the 49ers–Seahawks battle, as Sam Darnold leads Seattle against a 49ers roster depleted by key departures.
The Week concludes Monday with a prime-time showcase of youth. J.J. McCarthy makes his NFL debut against Caleb Williams, who begins his sophomore season under new head coach Ben Johnson in Chicago. Williams survived a brutal rookie year, enduring 68 sacks—now facing a blitz-heavy Vikings defense under Brian Flores.
From veteran duels to rookie revelations and inaugural coaching tenures, Week 1 promises to be a suspenseful, foundational chapter for the 2025 NFL season
